A Great Church

Great has more than a place in our name, it enlivens all of GEBC . . . a great pastor, great preaching and teaching, great singing, praise and worship, great love and caring, great ministry and service! God is the source of greatness. When His presence is in command, everything it touches is lifted from ordinary to remarkable. Are you looking for something great?

A Great Message

How shall we escape if we ignore such a GREAT salvation? Health, finance, family, the future . . . life is full of questions. The ultimate questions are about God!

Who am I? You are as different from other creatures as animals are from vegetables and vegetables are from minerals. You were created in the image of God! In the beginning man had no identity crisis. He knew exactly who he was and why he was in the world and obediently took his God-given place. This is hardly the situation today!

What went wrong? The simple answer is “sin entered the world through one man and death through sin.” (Romans 5:12) Sin made Adam and Eve ashamed, guilty and afraid. From then on, like pollution at the source of a river, the poison of sin has flowed to all people. Today’s newspaper, television and radio headlines remind us that the world is in a mess. “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23)

Is there an answer? Yes, there is! The central message of the Bible is summed up in these words, “God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16) As part of an amazing rescue plan Jesus volunteered to take the place of sinners and bear the penalty for their sin, God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.” (II Corinthians 5:21)

How can I be saved? Have faith in the Lord Jesus. Jesus alone is “able to save completely those who come to God through Him.” (Hebrews 7:25) You must be willing to:

Admit your sin and change the direction of your life. “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23)

Believe that, if you ask Him to, Christ will save you. “God demonstrates His own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)

Confess that you are a lost and helpless sinner and with all of your heart ask Christ to save you and become Lord of your life. “If you confess with your mouth Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved . . . everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” (Romans 10:9,13)

Which way now? You need to grow in your new spiritual life. Prayer - you are now able to speak to God as your Father. Ask for His help, strength and guidance in your life. Bible reading - It is important to listen to God’s word so “that by it you may grow up in your salvation.” Fellowship - Meet regularly with your brothers and sisters! “Let us not give up meeting together . . . let us encourage one another.” Service - You were created in “Christ Jesus to do good works.”
